A palatal expander is a fitted appliance used to gradually widen a narrow upper jaw. As the expander is adjusted over time, it creates additional room for crowded teeth and can help correct a crossbite, guiding the upper and lower arches toward a better fit.

What Palatal Expanders Address

Crowding — widening the upper arch can create space so teeth have room to align properly.
Crossbite — expansion helps correct situations where the upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth when biting down.
Narrow Upper Jaw — gradual widening addresses a palate that is too narrow to support the developing teeth.
