Digital treatment planning brings the scans, the X-rays, and the clinical exam together into one plan on screen, so the sequence of tooth movement is mapped out before the first bracket or aligner goes on. At Crystal Clear Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Aesha Chaudhry uses it to decide the approach and to show patients and parents what the plan actually involves.

What Goes Into a Plan

• Digital Intraoral Scanning — a precise 3D model of the teeth as they are today, and the starting point for every planned movement.
• Panoramic and Cephalometric X-Rays — the roots, the developing teeth, and the jaw relationships that the surface of the teeth cannot show.
• Treatment goals — what the patient wants to change, weighed against what the bite and the stage of growth allow.

Seeing the Plan

Because the plan is visual, it is easier to discuss. Patients can see the stages, ask what a particular step is for, and compare options such as braces and clear aligners before committing to one.
